CHC-Volunteer Horse Patrol & Trail News - April 2006

Hello Everyone,

It's that time of year to send in your Monthly & Quarterly reports for January, February & March 2006.  Please send them to your Coordinators ASAP, so they are not kept waiting or have to make unnecessary phone calls.  Thank you.

Attached are the new CHC-VHP logs that Mary Geer has revised for us.  Monthly & Quarterly logs were condensed to one form.  A page 2 was added for more space to add comments (It is important to note where the patrols took place and other notable information that other than sightings & contacts.)  On the top of the page we added reminders for more accurate reporting of data.  These are in a PDF file.  If you can not down load them, please let me know and I will mail you copies.

The final VHP report for 2005 will be out soon and sent to all DEP officials, the Clinton Land Trust & Tarrywile Park.

We have 8 new applicants & 3 new members to the VHP Program.  The applicants have completed their CPR & First Aid, and are just awaiting the Horse & Rider Evaluation which will be taking place in the beginning of April:

Hilery Slattery & "Pebbles" have completed their requirements.  Congratulations!

At our annual VHP Meeting in February it was proposed that members would like to patrol other parks and forests.  Our goals for this year are to establish CHC-VHP Patrols at Bluff Point, Hammonasset, Nehantic, Devil's Hop Yard, Hartman Park, Racebrook Tract Park in Orange & Eisenhower Park in Milford.

We will need VHP members to come forward and become Coordinators of these areas before we approach DEP. Please call or e-mail me to volunteer.

CHC-VHP Safety Vests were distributed at our Presidential Award's Ceremony.  Congratulations to all of you. YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Folding saws are in and will be distributed by Jim Griffin &, Gina Mc Manus (Cockaponset & CLCT, Bunny Joseph (Airline) & Meg Sautter (Larkin), & Diane for all other areas.
